Migropolis – honored as one of Germany’s most beautiful books

Migropolis is an exceptional book project, presenting the social and geographical consequences of globalization and their impact on the urban territory of Venice. The project was realized with the help of censhare, and has now been selected by Stiftung Buchkunst as one of Germany’s most beautiful books.

Migropolis

The foundation, which is funded and supported by Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek), and the Municipalities of Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig, awarded the most beautiful books in the categories of:

  • Design,

  • Conception, and

  • Finish and Workmanship.

The winners of the previous years included Vergil´s Aeneis, Gustav Mahler´s Liebste Justi as well as Letzte Tänze, by Günter Grass.

A total of 1035 books were submitted by various publishing companies, of which 64 made it through to the final round. The finalists also included Migropolis, which went on to prevail over competing entries in the “Science and reference book“ category. Other categories included general literature, ranging from art books all the way through to children’s book and school books.

Andreas Klostermaier, a member of censhare management of many years’ standing and the CEO of append[x] GmbH, was responsible for the digital production and microtypography of the Migropolis project.

We would like to congratulate Mr. Klostermaier and all the contributors to the Migropolis project on this very special award!
