The future of the publishing industry
The Digital Innovators´ Summit event, sponsored by censhare, addresses the German and international publishing business. Speaking at the event, Dieter Reichert presented solutions that can prevent the rapid downward spiral of the publishing trade.
The fact that publishing houses are on a steep decline is well known throughout the media sector. In the last ten years, popular and general interest magazines have recorded sales losses in the region of 12 million copies. Trade and professional journals have experienced an even steeper decline. What can publishing houses do to halt these dramatic losses?
At present, any strengthening of the position of publishing houses is still in the distant future, while the demand for free online products on the Internet is surging dramatically at the same time. At the Digital Innovators´ Summit 2010 in Berlin, Dieter Reichert outlined three major trends and scenarios explaining how publishing houses can safeguard their positions. censhare supported the event as a Platinum Sponsor.
Held on March 1st and 2nd , 2010 in Berlin, the event was organized by FIPP (The International Federation of the Periodical Press) and VDZ (Verband Deutscher Zeitschriftenverleger, The Association of German Newspaper Publishers) in cooperation with the American management consultants emediaSF, and the Israel Trade Center.
